Terry R. Vergon
International Speaker | Consultant | Leadership Expert | Author | Thought-leader
The leadership epiphanies were born out of Terry’s experiences at Google, Westinghouse, the Department of Energy and the Department of Defense — altogether, over 30 years of observations about organizations and leadership development. His post-graduate, doctoral-level studies focused specifically on leadership, having spent 10 years designing leadership training tailored to critical environments. Today, he is sought after to assist in diagnosing organizational issues and intervening with group behavioral change and leadership development.
Back in 1977, Terry went into the U.S. Nuclear Navy, graduating first in his class in the prototype training phase. When he was asked to join the staff as an instructor immediately upon graduation, Terry began to hone his ability to teach complex subjects simply.
What made Terry’s training so effective, even back in the days when he taught in the nuclear fields, was his unique understanding of how people learn and interact. A lifelong student of interpersonal relationships and psychology, Terry’s focus and passion turned to leadership and how it affects organizations. His 20 years in high-tech manufacturing and data center management roles while at Google and other companies added a business dimension to his understanding of the unique pressures leaders experienced as they rose through the ranks.
Terry took this compendium of knowledge about human nature and created not just a theoretical treatise on leadership, but what amounts to a working model on how to become an inspirational leader. His international consulting practice now includes organizational interventions based on his model of leadership development.
“Terry takes us on an intriguing journey of discovery and insight punctuated with nuggets of accrued management wisdom. “He has managed to capture, record and define these key learning experiences, the vital moments of inspiration and learning that are essential to the development of all successful careers. “I think many would recognise elements of Terry’s epiphanies, but he has managed to capture the essence of these and build them into a structure demonstrating increasing levels of intuition and awareness. To me, the journey that Terry’s book takes us on is faintly reminiscent of the successive stages of enlightenment represented in the story of Parsifal’s quest for the Holy Grail. “A truly engaging and enlightening read.”
